On November 16 the citizens of Kogalym witnessed a unique event that took place in our new branch. A film version of Uncle Vanya by Anton Chekhov, a production staged by Sergey Solovyov in the Maly Theatre in 1995, was screened as part of the Golden Ribbon Film Festival.
The representatives from Moscow's Maly Theatre gave a tour around the theatre's branch in Kogalym and talked about the symbolic connection between the Time of Troubles and the era of the dashing nineties.
We are happy to announce that the first read-through of Barbarians by Maxim Gorky was held on November 1. The performance will be staged by Vladimir Beylis and the premiere is scheduled for spring 2020. This complex yet beautiful play, populated by bright and interesting characters, was staged in the Maly only once - in 1940 by Konstantin Zubov and Ilya Sudakov.

The Presidium of the Russian Academy of Arts, headed by Zurab Tsereteli, awarded the artistic director of the Maly Theatre Yuri Solomin with a gold medal "for the multifaceted artistic and stage life, active creative and social activities and the consolidation of the Maly Theatre's School.
