It is with deep regret and sorrow that the Maly Theatre announces the death of the great Russian actress best known for the role in the film version of the Nobel Prize-winning novel And Quiet Flows the Don, People’s Artist of the USSR, Elina Avraamovna Bystritskaya. The staff of the Maly Theatre would like to offer her family and friends our deepest and most sincere condolences and may the soul of this amazing woman and a truly talented artist rest in peace.

Elina Bystritskaya has died at the age of 91 on April 26.

The farewell ceremony will be held on April 29. A civil memorial service will be held in the auditorium of the main stage of the Maly Theatre from 12 to 13 o'clock in the afternoon. She will be buried in Novodevichy Cemetery.
