The young King of Navarre comes up with a plan to turn his court into a “little academe”. He makes an agreement with his companions that they will devote themselves solely to their studies, and that they will live a perfectly ascetic and chaste life. No sooner have they taken an oath to avoid the company of women for three years than the Princess of France and her entourage arrive and muck everything up. The ladies are offended by the discourtesy of men and believe that their vow contradicts the nature of all the relationships. Of course, in spite of all possible prohibitions and unrealistic vows, there will be love. But will love triumph and conquer all the prejudices, pride and obstinacy?
Director Vitaly Ivanov has staged one of Shakespeare's earliest as well as one of his least consequential plays. The peculiarity of this production is that the characters are played by young artists who have recently joined Maly Theatre’s company. Maly Theatre decided to give its young actors a great chance to unveil all their diverse talents and present all the skills acquired while studying at Mikhail Shchepkin Higher Theatre School.
As time flies, new young artists joined this production. «Love's Labour's Lost» has become a great chance for the actors, who had recently joined the company to prove themselves, and, what is more important, it has become one of the most beloved performances among young viewers.
