Today we have a unique chance to take a peek into our Children's Theatre Studio and see how our young artists are doing and what they have already learned. The classes are run by the actors of the Maly Theatre: Lyubov Eshchenko, Natalya Kalinina, Alexander Naumov and Konstantin Yudaev.
On April 15 we held an evening in memory of Akira Kurosawa, the prominent Japanese director who directed Dersu Uzala, an award-winning film starring Yuri Solomin, who played one of the leading roles. The evening was held in the New Shchepkinskoe foyer of the Maly Theatre. An exhibition dedicated to Dersu Uzala was also opened in the foyer of the theatre. One of its main exhibits was the sculptural group, made by Aleksey Chebanenko, the busts of Yuri Solomin, Maksim Munzuk and Akira Kurosawa himself.
As announced earlier, on April 6, the Minister of Culture of Russia, Vladimir Medinsky, signed an open-term employment contract with the artistic director of the Maly Theatre, People’s Artist of the USSR Yuri Solomin. Today we would like to share with you a video of that milestone event.
The actor of the Maly Theatre Alexander Vladimirovich Vershinin was awarded the title of People's Artist of Russia. The decree was signed by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin on March 28. Warmest congratulations to Alexander on this outstanding achievement!
