Ivanova Alexandra

Actor

Alexandra was born on November 21, 1986 in Moscow. In 2001 she graduated from the Gnessin School of Music (violin, piano and vocal and stage department). From 2003 to 2007 Alexandra studied at Mikhail Shchepkin Higher Theatre School (course of O.N. Solomina and Y.M. Solomin). Among her graduation works are: Mrs. Higgins («Pygmalion» by George Bernard Shaw), Klavdia («Vanyushin’s Children» by Sergei Naidenov), Saskia («Rembrandt» by Dmitriy Kedrin).

In 2007, Alexandra Ivanova joined the Maly Theatre’s company. Her first major role was in «Mad, Mad Henry» by Luigi Pirandello, directed by Vladimir Beylis, where she played an exquisite Frida. Her other major works include: Larisa Ogudalova in Alexander Ostrovsky’s drama «Without a Dowry» and Roxane in «Cyrano de Bergerac» by Edmond Rostand. In plays that are so different content-wise, Alexandra managed to draw certain parallels between the main characters, Larisa and Roxane. Ravishing, mobbed by their admirers, they differ in their understanding of love of freedom and independence. Moreover, Larisa is impoverished thus putting her in a subordinate position. She becomes a hostage of her beauty; a mere toy, a thing that has no feelings or thoughts. Roxane, on the other hand, is blinded by Christian’s looks and considers him perfect, not paying attention to the devoted and loving, but ugly Cyrano.

In addition to working in the theatre, Alexandra also appears regularly on TV: «Kulagin and Partners», «Bet on Life», «Karmelita», «Second Homicide Department».
