Alexander Borovskiy

Alexander Borovskiy (Borovskiy-Brodskiy) (born on August 10, 1960) is a theatre designer.

In 1983 he graduated from the Production Department of the Moscow Art Theatre School (course of I. Malygina). Since 1986 he was the chief set designer at Oleg Tabakov Theatre. Borovskiy has created sets for more than 70 productions in the most renowned theatres in Moscow. He has worked with Adolf Shapiro, Vladimir Mashkov, Sergey Zhenovach, and others. He became the chief set designer at the Meyerhold Theater Center in Moscow while keeping the position as the chief set designer at Oleg Tabakov Theatre.

He has also worked in film and television, and he has created sets for circus programs at Moscow Circus on Tsvetnoy Boulevard (together with Valentin Gneushev). Alexander took part in multiple international theatrical exhibitions. As a set designer Borovskiy created the set design for theatre productions in the USA, Finland, Denmark, Austria.

Recipient of the State Prize of the Russian Federation, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, Laureate of the Crystal Turandot Theatre Award (for the set design of «The Death-Defying Act», directed by Vladimir Mashkov, 1995), The Order of Honour (2012).
