Zinaida Elivkirevna Andreeva, Honored Artist of Russia, was born on October 16, 1945. She graduated from the Boris Shchukin Theatre Institute. She joined the Maly Theatre’s company in 1969.

Zinaida Andreeva is a brilliant character actress. Over the years she created a wealth of memorable characters that she endowed with irresistible charm and femininity, contagious mischief and immense staginess. With her natural charm, intelligence, and vitality, Andreeva brought an image of sincerity and wit to a variety of roles. The adorable Little Humpbacked Horse from the eponymous fairy tale by Pyotr Yershov, was a role that was enthusiastically accepted both by children and adults, who unconditionally trusted her wise, kind and at the same time crafty hero.

Throughout her career Andreeva demonstrated her abilities in a variety of genres, but she is best known for her biting wit and easy charm.

Endowed with inexhaustible energy, longing for work, truly creative mind and endless search for novelty, the actress made her directing debut with «The Cherry Orchard» by Anton Chekhov (staged by Igor Ilyinskiy). Over the years Andreeva directed «There Was Not a Single Penny, and Suddenly There is a Dime», «The Snow Queen», «The Tale of Tsar Saltan», «King Gustav Vasa», «Krechinsky's Wedding» , «Ivanov» «Woe from Wit», etc.

May 30 marks 50 years of service in the Maly Theatre of the Honored Artist of Russia Zinaida Andreeva. The actress has performed on the stage more than 50 roles for almost half a century. Apart from acting on the stage, Andreeva, has directed a number of productions. Thanks to her efforts, many performances of the Maly Theatre are well preserved and maintained at the proper level. Congratulations to Zinaida Elivkerievna on her creative jubilee!
