«MALY THEATRE» NEWSPAPER

Dear friends,

We are pleased to announce that a new issue of our newspaper came out recently. It features interviews with Boris Nevzorov, Inna Ivanova, Irina Leonova, Olga Zhevakina and Olga Pleshkova, a guide through the stage history of King Lear at the Maly Theatre, along with articles on theatre’s renovation, its stage, the destiny of Goldoni’s plays on the stage of the theatre, and much more.

The Maly Theatre newspaper has been published since 1935, and it was revived in 2016.

The institutional newspaper Maly Theatre was published from October 15, 1935 to June 29, 1941 Communist Party committee’s agency (later on the party bureau), the local committee and Maly Theatre’s administration. 152 large-format issues were published having from 2 to 8 pages of printed text (generally 4 printed pages) with a circulation of 500 to 800 copies. In 1939 - 1941 the newspaper was distributed on a subscription basis by the trade-union representatives at the workshops.

In 2000 - 2012 years «The "Maly"» newspaper was published in the A-4 format and consists of 4 to 12 printed pages. 43 issues were published along with some unnumbered special issues. At first it was a monthly newspaper, with a circulation of 995 copies, then it was published irregularly with a limited circulation. The newspaper was sold for the audience at the theatre.

The revived quarterly Maly Theatre newspaper of a large format has been published since 2016 with a circulation of 2,000 copies. The newspaper consists of 20 to 28 pages. This is a free newspaper for the guests of the Maly Theatre.
